Abstract

Indicators to assess how far health development has been successful in an area are by looking at the maternal mortality rate (AKI) and infant mortality rate (IMR). In Balikpapan City, the maternal mortality rate in 2021 is 74/100,000 KH, and the infant mortality rate is 5/1000 KH (Balikpapan City Health Service, 2022). The aim of the research is to improve the health of mothers and children by providing quality essential midwifery care, from pregnancy, childbirth, the neonatal period, the postpartum period to the choice of contraception. This case study was carried out using the Varney midwifery management approach and midwifery SOAP. Research subject Mrs. Y G2P1A0 Gestational age 15 weeks 1 day with Obesity I. Descriptive data analysis using an essential midwifery care approach according to midwife authority, research time was 24 December 2023 – 2 August 2024. The research results were obtained by Mrs. Y BP 119/78 mmHg, T 36.6C, N 83 x / minute, diagnosed with G2P1A0, gestational age 15 weeks 1 day, obese during pregnancy. Problems during pregnancy visits can be resolved well. The researcher did not accompany Mrs. during the birth process. Y, So Mrs. R as a normal replacement patient. Neonatal and postpartum problems Mrs. Y was progressing normally, there was no infection at the return visit, the suture wound was dry, the mother decided to use an IUD as a contraceptive method. Conclusion: Care has been provided essentially from pregnancy to family planning, it was found that the respondents in this case study were obese.
